Accelerate vs VWO, now Wingify

VWO is a hosted experimentation platform: a JavaScript snippet on your pages and a visual editor in their app. Testing, personalization, heatmaps and surveys are sold as products on top. It merged with AB Tasty this year and now trades as Wingify, with no public prices. Accelerate is a WordPress plugin. It tests and personalizes blocks inside the block editor and renders them server-side. It runs on first-party analytics it collects itself, free up to one million page views a month. One is a platform you attach to WordPress. The other is WordPress.

Checked 25 September 2026 against vwo.com, its pricing page, its own A/B testing guide and the Wingify plugin listing on wordpress.org, and published the same day. Written by Human Made, who make Accelerate (so read the VWO column as their claims and ours as ours).

Choose VWO if

  • You run experiments across several properties, mobile apps included, and want one platform for all of them.
  • You need multivariate tests, split URL tests, feature flags or bandits, not only A/B tests on content.
  • Heatmaps, session recordings and surveys need to sit in the same tool as the tests.
  • A team of testers works in a dedicated app with approvals, SSO and workspaces, and someone else owns the WordPress site.

Choose Accelerate if

  • The site is WordPress, built with the block editor, and the people running tests are the people editing content.
  • You want no snippet, no swap in the browser, and no third-party tracker on the page.
  • You want testing, personalization and analytics reading one set of first-party data.
  • You want to know the price before a sales call, and a free plan that covers a real site.
  • Agents are part of how you work and you want them reading results and acting through MCP.

Feature by feature

Thirteen things a buyer asks about, answered for both. Where a claim is VWO's, it is their wording from their site or their listing.

Where it runs

What it isA WordPress plugin. Everything runs in wp-admin and the block editor.A hosted experimentation platform. VWO and AB Tasty merged in 2026 and now trade as Wingify.
Getting it onto a siteInstall the plugin, done.A JavaScript snippet on every page. The Wingify WordPress plugin adds the snippet for you and tracks WooCommerce events.
Where you build variantsIn the block editor, as ordinary blocks. In their visual editor or code editor, in their app.
How variants renderServer-side, in the page. Nothing swaps in after load.In the browser, after the snippet loads. They say their tag causes no flicker or flash of original content.
Full-page cachingThe same cached page serves every variant, so the hit rate does not move. Not affected, because the swap happens in the browser.

Pricing, side by side

One of these has a price list. Wingify's pricing page says there are no fixed plans, only a custom proposal built around your goals and scope, so the tiers below are what they publish and the prices are what they do not.

Where VWO is stronger

Scope. Wingify is a whole experimentation department in one login: web and app tests, split URL and multivariate, bandits, feature flags, heatmaps, recordings, surveys, funnels, personalization, approvals, SSO, data centres on three continents. If your organisation runs experiments on more than a WordPress site, or needs the governance layer, this is the bigger tool and it is not close.

Products on the Wingify platform, in their words

  • Web experimentation
  • Feature experimentation
  • Personalization
  • Behaviour analytics
  • Journey analytics
  • User feedback
  • Customer engagement
  • Wingz AI

Accelerate does three of these, inside WordPress. That is the whole pitch.

Where Accelerate is stronger

Being native. A test or an audience variant is a block, edited by the person who edits the page, rendered by the server with the rest of it. No snippet to load, no swap to hide, no second analytics tool deciding what a visit was. When a variant wins it becomes the page with one click, not a rule the snippet keeps applying. The price is on the website, the free plan covers a million page views, and agents get the same access a person does, through 41 abilities over MCP.

Common questions

Is Accelerate a VWO alternative for WordPress?
For A/B testing and personalization on a WordPress site, yes. The difference is where it lives. VWO, now Wingify, is a hosted platform you attach to a site with a snippet, and it covers testing, personalization, heatmaps, recordings, surveys and feature flags across the web and apps. Accelerate is a plugin that does testing, personalization and analytics inside WordPress, on the site’s own data, and nothing else.
What happened to VWO?
VWO and AB Tasty merged in 2026 and the combined company trades as Wingify. The vwo.com site, the product and the WordPress plugin all carry the Wingify name now. The plugin’s wordpress.org slug is still visual-web-optimizer.
Which is cheaper?
Wingify does not publish prices. You get a proposal after a call, and a trial on a demo account before it. Accelerate is free up to one million tracked page views a month, then $150 a month up to ten million, and the numbers are on the pricing page.
Does the snippet slow the site down?
Wingify says its tag is the lightest in the category and causes no flicker. That is their claim and we have not measured it. Accelerate renders variants on the server, so there is nothing to swap in and nothing for a cache to miss.
Which is better for an agency?
Wingify prices per domain and workspace: one on Growth, three on Pro, five on Enterprise, and agencies are steered to the Enterprise tier. Accelerate’s Agency plan is scoped per client site with white-label reporting, and the free plan is enough to prove the work on the first site.
